Long Term Assurance helped my parents get the financial and medical assistance they needed. The process was easy and they helped us to understand everything.

Paperwork can be overwhelming at certain times in our lives and for situations that you have no experience, it can be difficult. Long Term Assurance was there for me to help guide me through the process of gaining financial assistance for a loved one.

I highly recommend working with Long Term Assurance if you have a loved one needing assistance with navigating the ALTCS process. I take care of most things myself and do a lot of research, but I quickly realized I needed help. The process requires a lot of work on your part to gather information needed, but they let you know what, when and know their way around a complicated system. My advice is to call them as soon as you realize you may need the support of ALTCS in the future. I am beyond thankful for Sandy and her smart, compassionate and efficient team.

When I came to Sandy Messer's team in January, consisting of Lydia and Sylvia, I was trying to figure out what benefits my father was entitled to as my mother had just left him due to his dementia. Their team didn't promise or guarantee that anything would be approved, but were confident about the likelihood that he qualified for aid and attendance, saying that they wouldn't have taken us as clients if they weren't confident. They were extremely thorough in letting me know exactly what documents I needed to collect, and were always prompt to answer any questions or address any concerns. Their estimated timeline was four to five months to receive a response from the VA, yet I believe it was more like three and a half from the time the application packet was submitted. If it weren't for them, my sister and I would be struggling to make ends meet for him.

My first contact with LTA, was in January of 2025. The entire process was explained to me in detail in a very friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Once I submitted the signed agreement, I was emailed a list of the sequence of the steps involved in the process, as well as the documentation and forms to be completed. While gathering the necessary information to complete the forms, I was mostly in contact with Lydia. We communicated via email; however, she was also available for phone calls and answered my questions with kindness and genuine concern. My documentation was complete, and submitted by March 6, 2025. By June 17, 2025, the full benefit for Aid and Attendance was awarded for my mother (the surviving spouse of a veteran) who resides in an assisted living facility. I am very grateful to have had the assistance of this team of professionals.

First of all, don’t try this alone! It would have been impossible for me to decipher all the medical and financial requirements, make all the necessary arrangements to meet them, and gather all the required documentation. There are so many details and hoops you must jump through it boggles the mind. Sandy Messer and her team are well experienced with all of them and hold your hand every step of the way. They are very professional, knowledgeable, and personally care about their clients. When there was an issue with our medical review Sandy and her team jumped in immediately to resolve it. We have used Long Term Assurance now twice in the last year. Unfortunately my father-in-law passed, so we had to reapply for mom only. First time took 4 months. Second time took 3 months. Be aware, there is lots of paper work that needs to be filled out, but once it was turned into VA, we had no glitches and a smooth process.

Sandy and her staff are the best. I had been trying to get Aid and Attendance for my Mom on my own for over a year. What a nightmare if you're not familiar with how the government works. When looking for assisted living facilities for my Mom, Sandy's name and information would be handed to me. I would put it a side and continue on my own to apply. After a one road block after another. I prayed and prayed for guidance, Again I was handed another pamphlet for Sandy Messer and the help she provided. I finally got it!! I highly recommend Long Term Assurance (LTA) to help you secure Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits. Sandy Messer worked tirelessly for us, and did not give up, even when we were denied three times. Each time, she went back to the VA, provided documentation showing why my 92 year old father who served in Korea was due these benefits. Long Term Assurance, LLC is a lifesaver for veterans and their families

Sandy and Sylvia have been excellent to work with through applying for benefits through the VA. The VA is absolutely impossible to work with and Long Term Assurance, LLC has really taken a lot off our plate after trying for over a year to apply for Veterans Aid and Attendance on our own for my mother, after my father passed. The whole process is very labor intensive and I really do not see how people in their older years can get through the application process, which is so confusing and they ask over and over for more paperwork and more documents. In many cases we had already sent in the same paperwork they have asked for several times. Anything related to applying for the VA seems like they make it impossible to keep up with the paperwork - which feels like the process is designed for people to fail - so folks just quit applying and walk away from the benefits they rightly deserve.

Sandy and Sylvia were there for us every step of the way. They helped us fill out all the forms, gather all the documents, and submit them to the VA. They also followed up with the VA regularly and kept us updated on the status of our application. They were always patient, professional, and compassionate. The staff is knowledgeable with what the VA requires. They won’t submit the paperwork if they aren’t certain of a positive outcome. Of course nothing is a 100% guarantee when dealing with the VA, but we had no back and forth, or had the VA asking for more documents. Our request for Aid and Attendance was approved within a month of submission.

I have been responsible for 2 siblings that needed long term care. Unfortunately, my brother passed in 2019 while I was trying to get him the help he needed from the state to pay for his group home. There is so much misinformation, and lack of information, when it comes to financing the care of those who bravely served our country and their spouse. Sandy Messer and the Long Term Assurance team are fantastic and more families of veterans need to know about them! In 2014 while looking for alternative living locations for our father, a veteran in need of full-time care beyond what our family could provide on its own, we were introduced to Sandy. Dad’s care was very expensive and putting our parent’s financial future in jeopardy. Until we met Sandy, we had no idea our parents were entitled to some help from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Sandy put us in touch with a VA accredited attorney who assisted in fixing the misguided estate planning undertaken by previous legal counsel. She and her team helped us establish the proper trust to protect our parent’s home and assets, ultimately enabling our dad to receive the care he needed while simultaneously serving our mom’s best interest. The VA paperwork can be daunting, but they took care of everything. First, for our dad in 2014, and most recently for our mom. As a result, the VA claims for both of our parents were submitted correctly the first time and awarded very quickly. Our family is, without question, better off having crossed paths with the Long Term Assurance team.

Dealing with family members aging scenarios is extremely challenging and heavy on the heart. I can not thank the staff at LTA enough for everything they did to procure the VA benefits for our Dad. I thought it was a very simple and straight forward process that they handled all the way for me. Although they do not control when benefits are approved as this is a Federal Government program, I expected the approval to take much longer and to my surprise it went very quickly and was approved! When I had to start this challenging process on behalf of my dad, I continually thought that I would have been completely lost if it were not for the knowledge of the process by Sandy and her team. Securing long-term care for aging parents is never easy. My wife and I were referred to Sandy and her team by the resident staff of Mariposa Point where my parents now reside. Mom is 89 and following a stroke in 2015, has required considerable assistance with her daily activities. My Dad had been her primary caregiver, but at 94 and with failing health, could no longer play that role, and in fact was in need of help with his own daily routines. Sandy had informed us that as a WW II and Vietnam-era veteran, my dad might qualify for a Veteran's Administration "Aid & Attendance" benefit for he and my mother. As you might expect, the thought of working through a long application process with the VA was more that daunting, so we decided to give Sandy and her team a try...that was the right call! Sandy assigned Sylvia Kennedy to be our counselor. Sylvia went right went to work, building the application package and leading us through the whole process, including help with medical documentation and cost information from the assisted living facility. It all took about 3-1/2 months but in the end was a complete success. The extra money from the VA is just enough to cover the cost of their assisted living care, so a huge financial burden has been lifted from our shoulders. Knowledgeable, superior competency, great resource, company name known in numerous Independent Living & Assisted Living Communities, pleasant to work with & always responded to my calls within hours--via email. It is my opinion that responses are via email or text rather than telephone call, most likely due to the fact emailing let's them to both document in writing the response & is most productive to working with many people because they can respond when they are able & client can read response when client able. This team is an answer to prayer! They truely address the whole person--both directly & indirectly.

Sandy Messer and the staff at LTA were all very professional and honest in their communications with me regarding care in attendance assistance from the VA for my father. He did receive aid but the process was long and arduous. They guided me every step of the way and submitted necessary documents when needed. I am so busy guiding the care of my 89 year old father and honestly believe I would have dropped the ball along the way of this process if I did not have help from LTA. I highly recommend their services.

I had a friend who was 90 years old and a veteran of the Pacific theater in world war 2. He was developing dementia and was in a care facility, his veterans benefits were less than 200 dollars a month. Several times persons tried to get him help without success. After contacting Long Term Assurance and contracting with them to help, providing the needed information it took less than two months to hear from the Veterans administration. The VA granted my friend almost 1300 dollars per month for his care. I have no doubt the attention to detail and professionals at Long Term Assurance were the reason there was a positive outcome. I cannot say enough about how easy it was to work with these people, they talked to me like family and guided me thru the process. It was a very positive experience, and worth every penny of their reasonable fees.

I have a sister in a assisted living situation which can get very expensive and non affordable. With her deceased husband being a veteran it was suggested that she apply for the Veterans Aid in Attendance Benefit that she may qualify for. I started to do some research and felt a bit overwhelmed with properly filling out the required forms. So, on a recommendation I contacted Long Term Assurance. Now I live in Michigan and they are in Arizona so I was a bit skeptical on how this would play out. But it was no problem, they e-mailed me a list of required documentation, which I had to assemble and mail off to them. They did the dirty work of filling out the forms to be sent to Veteran's Affair. It took several months but she was approved for the benefit which has helped in her expenses. I highly recommend Long Term Assurance they were very easy to work with very well versed in what they are doing. Made my life easier and my sister and I are very grateful that she has this Pension Benefit.
